These Historical Collard Greens were grown on this Historical Farmland in 1864 by Shepard Mallory and "Farmer Joyce" Great-Grandfather as a part of his Seed Supply from Native Americans who helped him get to Fort Monroe for his Freedom. Widely grown in North & South Carolina. Especially near "Little Mountain South Carolina". This Collard is also used to make sauerkraut from the leaves. These Collard Green are grown on compact plants with green "yellow-green-blue leaves in color, Light green petioles round leaf blades, and dentate marge. Forming a Cabbage-like head during the Fall.
