These Historical Collard Greens were grown on this Historical Farmland in 1864 by Shepard Mallory and "Farmer Joyce", Great-Grandfather, as a part of his Seed Supply from Native Americans who helped him get to Fort Monroe for his Freedom. Widely grown in North & South Carolina. Especially near "Little Mountain, South Carolina". This Collard is also used to make sauerkraut from the leaves. These Collard Greens are grown on compact plants with green, yellow-green, and blue leaves in color, Light green petioles, round leaf blades, and dentate margins. Forming a very tall Cabbage-like head during the Fall, for edible weather protection. Amen!!
