Native Americans Called this very Hot Pepper "Chicken Heart Peppers" and used these very hot peppers as Organic Pesticides. We use them here to protect our Historical Vegetables from all pest in our area. A very hot variety of historical peppers which has been a favorite of the Pennsylvania Dutch since 1880, but first grown by Native Americans by the names of Chicken Hearts. These peppers are so hot we us them organically to keep out pests and Insects from all of our Historical Fruits and Vegetables as Natives American did 400' years ago. The 18-24 inch plants produce pendant sized fruits resembling chicken hearts. A good choice for pickling, cooking or drying, and matures to a brilliant red color. This Pepper Plant grows good in organic soil with a pH 6.0. Start peppers indoors, 6 weeks before the last spring frost. Sow the seeds ¼ inch deep in fine potting soil. Pepper seeds need warm soil to germinate, but grows well as house plants. The best germination occurs when soil temperature is between 72 to 80 degrees. Seeds will take 10-15 days to germinate. Once the soil outside has warmed (about 1 to 2 weeks after the last spring frost) transplant to a sunny location.
