Sweet Banana Peppers - (Capsicum annuum)
These banana-shaped fruits are wonderful either in salads or frying! The 6-inch peppers are sweet and mild, growing on plants that average 20 inches high. Pick early when yellow or let mature to a deep red color. matures to a brilliant red color. This pepper grows well in organic soil with a pH of 6.0. Start peppers indoors, 6 weeks before the last spring frost. Sow the seeds ¼ inch deep in fine potting soil. Pepper seeds need warm soil to germinate, but grows well as house plants. The best germination occurs when soil temperature is between 72 to 80 degrees F. Seeds will take 10-15 days to germinate. Once the soil outside has warmed (about 1 to 2 weeks after the last spring frost) transplant to a sunny location. A good choice for pickling, cooking or drying. 65 days From Transplants
